Instead of rotting at home with 2 noisy & disturbing kids, we arranged a morning workout cum picnic session. 2 sisters tagged along, one with family & the other with boyfriend. My sis has only 1 boy, NIC who’s always lonely & unfortunately in dire needs of playmates. NIC’s only 3+ yet it amazed me how well he could blend in with my 8 years old….. boy, if u can hear & see how much NIC always miss Sean & Scot kor-kor, trust you would have sympathize him too. Too bad, they don’t stay closely enough to meet as often as they wish. Btw, my sis has been trying hard for another sibling to NIC but luck is not here yet….emm

We were to meet at TTDI park at 8a.m. but as usual everyone was late & the sun was already clear & bright. We arrived first & me with maid booked a spot near the stream while hubs find a parking (it was already people mountain people sea actually). We didn’t immediately spread out our picnic mat coz thot we should wait for the rest. So we just left our stuffs on the ground. Suddenly this notty baobei decided to answer his mother nature’s call early early in the morning (poo that was of course.)…….haiya, damn troublesome bringing out unpotty-trained kid. We changed him on his pram & keep his soiled cloth diaper in a plastic bag…..the bad thing with cloth diapering.

Me & maid stood there guarding our stuffs (food, kids’ tools & such) when out of sudden the maid YELLED:

mam, MONYET !!

I got a shock as those 2 monkeys (not referring to my 2 ahh) look fierce & were obviously eyeing into our basket of foods. There were many people around actually but they don’t seemed to be afraid at all. I was still worry bcoz baobei was around so we moved slightly away from our stuffs. Guess what, the nasty monkey grabbed one of our bag …. so fast that we couldn’t even do anything!! The maid quickly grabbed a long stick & shooed them away. We can only watched him running with our bag. The monkey stopped at the stream (which was not far from where we stood) & opened up the bag anticipating a delicious meal. Immediately after the plastic bag was torn, the idiot monkey took a look & phewwwwwwwwww he sprint away in lightning speed, coz he was greeted with baobei’s POO in the soiled diaper….wakakakakakakakakakaka (the maid & me were laughing hysterically). And so we managed to save our diaper, LOL

That was a bad start to our picnic right??

But nevertheless, all of us old & young enjoyed the outing very much.

Yours truly had a good time sweating too. You know what, if u next has a chance to play with kids’ badminton (plastic racket & shuttlecock)….do give it a try. It was way enjoyable than the real adults racket & shuttlecock lor !!!

The hubs out of nowhere suddenly decided on a new passion. He has ZERO interest & NO experience previously so it’ll take him LONG to be a skillful one & deliver nice nice photos of the kids. Though i’ve been objecting to him getting the gadget (shouldn’t have wasted my saliva….since i’ve no say anyway) coz i don’t expect myself to manipulate this toy while having a koala bear hanging on to me, i can’t help but to feel excited. Well, what u think…. i’ve been managing all photos in my blog for the past 3 years, bet he’ll take sometime to beat me. I tried my hand on the camera…still a lot to LEARN (no kidding) yet i already LOVE what i’ve shoot & i shot better than him, lol

been practising very diligently….snapped lots of photos during the weekend. He even went to the extend of purchasing those Canon & photography megazines for reading…….pheww, hard to believe but way to go dear!!

I think i will still use my IXUS digital camera since it’s much more handy for me right now but i prefer to upload photo from the REAL gadget of course. These are the final lots from my digicam for the time being ….

Wonder if you still remember the last bento contest organised by javapot that i participated sometime ago. I was begging for votes & hinted to the hubs to help….and being my all time fans, he dragged his clonies to my blog for votes. That’s when a very very very good friend of Elaine (ahem), colin (who also happens to be hubs business buddy) ….not only voted for me but also dragged Elaine to vote ….haha so nice of him!! My very first comment by Elaine, that was it…and eventually met her & her family in person at Annie’s place. And the rest is history….

One thing after another, this husb n wife ‘phak tong’ has became our financial adviser. Both our hubs had been having ‘yum cha’ session more than Elaine & I, *eye-rolling*

p/s : elaine, we gotta thank java also heh…maybe the 3 of us should hook up together one day for a good exchange of culinary skills (as if i have any…perasannya). Hopefully you’ll get to meet this mysterious lady, haha. Hey i met her when i collected my prize…she’s bubbly & cheerful, lol

After much talks about bringing the 2 families together for a catch up, we finally made it.

I have been babbling & hinting too much of wanting to try this….damn thick skin so that was it, Elaine stuffed me full with her ’siu yoke’ & I’m really contended this time !! Simply satisfying…. lived up to my expectations, the fussy hubs’ compliments are a good testament !!

Here is another highlight…..hokkien mee…..simply delicious! Elaine cooked this upon our arrival so i saw how she cooked it & stealed some tips there. I think the broth did a good job there. I told hub that you used the broth & how she boiled the broth….he was stunned. We would have just use plain water to simmer the noodle but this chef took a notch up, it just goes to show that cooking with heart does made a different. So folks, no need to go to the awful backlane of Petaling Street for good hokkien mee !!

After having the food up to my neck, the thought of cheesecake could have easily turned me off. I didn’t expect myself to enjoy it to be frank….but the mild tasty cheese, smooth texture, not too sweet with a tinch of lemon flavour was so appealing, that they just overtook my control. One spoon after another, i finished the entire piece which i had initially thought of sharing with hubs……haiyo !!

The the hubs then talked about fruit cake !! My hubs likes them & ate a lot during his 10yrs stay in Aust. Danny then asked Elaine to warm up some of their frozen stash for hubs to try….hubs said they were rich & good esp with the layer of liquor added. unfortunately i’ve never take a liking to fruit cake….somehow i find those cherries & lemon skin a big turn-off, sorry dear…it was my cinapek tastebud, hehe

Well, i can see that the hubs was very proud of her talented wife’s culinary skills…be it at cooking or baking. He was seen very supportive….snapping enthusiastically all her beautiful creations!!

Colin’s sister has a great passion into nail arts. I heard that it is a must thing-to-do when she meets little Amber…haha this little girl is really another vain pot. She can really sits there thru the entire nail job & kept comparing her nails with ours & complaint that hers were not nice enough….adoi cutenya !!!

Luckily Amber didn’t like my nail jobs….else Pam jie-jie would have another heart attack, haha

Can’t believe i can managed a nail job amidst eating, chatting & minding the bao bei ehh !! But it was already late, the hubs was carrying the soundly asleep bao bei & Sean & Scot who were at mom’s kept calling us on our mobile to go back…. luckily the stamping nail job was such a fast one, lol. As the hubs was already glaring at me (signalling me to finish off quickly), i had to make my move soon after ….

Hence, the purpose of this post….. i just can’t wait for my sister to return this Sunday!! She’s in the States (Houston) right now…supposing for training BUT the whole family was bugging her with their shopping list. Surprisingly she was all willing to shop for us….” it was FUN spending my sisters’ money ” so she said !!

According to her, here are what she got for ME:

1 coach baby bag (i dare not ask for more handbag coz i’ve already got 3 in hand)

1 large wristlet 

1 small wallet

3 bottle of perfumes

sounds so little things right but she said i owed her USDxxx ……. sei mou??

My other sis has 4 bags, 3 branded shirts for the boyfriend, 7 babyT from Guess & DKNY which cost her USDxxxx…bomb, hahaha

The best part in her email was this :

Apart from picking some of the yummy-looking pastries, we tried the Japanese curry. I just wanted to verify if they are just using the ordinary vermont curry ……..haha. The curry was a little spicier than those i cooked as i bought the mild version for the kids. It was OK to me but surprisingly the fussy hubs said NOT BAD (which means good to him). But i hate that papar cup, it was very difficult to cut the curry chicken

On another day, huby decided to go for Madam Kwan….a place i used to frequent when i was working at TPTT, KLCC. But it has been a while we didn’t have their nasi bojari………the guilt kills !!

After browsing around a few other outlets, Sean finally settled for a pair of NIKE …. again he can’t wear the biggest size for kids & got himself the smallest size 6 from the adult’s version. This cost around RM139 (i think)

He is only 7 years & 8 months old

Which one do you like MORE ??? I’ll certainly go for Nike…the green is eye-catchy !!

The next day, the boys got all excited & eager showing off their new shoes. Scot is the one that particularly likes putting on sport shoes even when the occassion doesn’t justify it. As usual Sean is a follower. Their crazy dad too jumped into their bandwagon & put on his rarely wore adidas sport shoes too. Mommy felt so left out & instead of wearing my usual sandal, i too joined the fun …. it was really rare that i wore sport shoes to the mall, lol! BTW were at EMPIRE mall n bumped into Rachel & Philip boy

He insisted to wear his long sleeve OSH KOSH bought by his ’sam yi’ / my sis from US despite me not agreeing. He initially paired it with a long khakis pant but i shudder….he looks like going for a grand dinner. So i had to bribe him to change to the bermuda jeans, at least he looks more casual that way rite?

And here’s the usual ah beng Sean …..who would have to be bribed to put on long pants (shakes head)

GUESS what……. even our little bao bei was not spared from looking sporty that day, hahaha

Nope….i didn’t buy that pair of Adidas. It would be very foolish to do that when he couldn’t even crawl on 4 yet. And it was not a hand down from his kor-kor too. Only my younger super branded sister would buy it coz she travels to US/UK very frequently (she’s a cabin crew remember). Her son is already 3+ & got lots of branded hand downs for my bao bei, including that red strips OshKosh romper he was wearing !!

When i was rearranging the boys shoes cabinets, i realised it was big time TO-DO-SOMETHING with those many pairs of old shoes that the twins had outgrown. We have been keeping them for a few years now & I don’t think they would last that long in the cabinet for the little bao bei.

Any idea / suggestion where should i post these shoes for RE-SALE…. they are still in good condition !!

Short of a week as of today but guess there won’t be much difference in his progress.

First of all, my momma has been very busy so she’ll show you more photos & video instead of writing coz me, my 2 kor-kor & daddy had drained her up

This is what i will do whenever they are too busy to carry me. Most of the time they will put me on the mattress on the floor so that i can rolled anywhere i like without creating that heart attack moment for moma & papa

I have been trying so hard to move forward …… but….. hai, why cannot ahh?? i know i know, it must be my heavy butt….but what to do?? Nevermind, my papa taught me not to give up. But guess what, hey i can moved backward instead, u know *blek*!!

Then few days back, this little DEVIL called mosquito attacked me during sleep. I whined & made some noice but my piggy moma slept too soundly & couldn’t protect me. Hence, i was biten so badly by that blardy monster. The next morning, both my papa & moma yelled in shock over those red dots on my face & they both felt guilty to no end. In return, they got bad scolding from my poh-poh (nyek nyek nyek) & i got “SPESIEL & extla”attention from everyone (blowing whistle, pee pee) :P

Past week end, i finally had my first taste of what the adults call “SOLID” food.

Papa bought a box of Heinz rusk biscuit and he couldn’t find the brands of rice cereal that moma requested. And so moma tried feeding me a piece of rusk mixed with 2oz of milk & voila….i liked it so much !!! Hopefully i’ll stay liking these adults food when more is gradually introduce to me…. tq moma & papa!! Btw, my poh poh also got very excited in getting the greenlight from moma to feed me ’something’ other than milk. Poh poh had wanted to make me porridge long ago but was stopped by moma coz the general rule says 6 months ma.

Anyway, u see the video lar….i’m ready for solid :D

p/s: Btw, when i looked back at this video, i’ve no idea what i was rushing over…why it looks like fast forwarding version hah, lol !!

Little bao bei was seen muttering & mumbling a lot too…. a sign of progressing in verbal development i suppose. Those dadada sounds were so entertaining & sweet!! He has also recently discovered his legs & held on his legs a lot. Seen him clasped both his hands lately too & swing them up down …. practising greeting gong xi fa cai for next CNY !! I had also just increased his milk intake from 5oz to 6oz yesterday & he managed to gulp down all ..ooOHH

 Suppose to be Sean’s choice of meal. He was conned by the delicious looking seafood (esp. clams & prawns) but the noodles soup was very bland. Sean just ate a quarter of it & traded it with mommy’s beef teppanyaki

In fact, hubs’ choice of ramen below tasted better than the above though it doesn’t looked as appetizing to me.

What’s with beef & me?? I just couldn’t stop ordering beef anywhere we patron lately….sei for!! Luckily Sean hijacked my meal & i’m happy to let go after eating nearly half portion of it

Scot’s favourite salmom teppanyaki….surely an expensive taste bud coz he remembered the delicious salmon he had at ANGUS Steakhouse & asked when can we go again…..** daddy shiver jor **

Some favourite side dishes

The purpose of the trip was to visit IKEA.

We had wanted to get a simple shelving for the back portion of our kitchen. I needed more storage badly to store my kitchen gadgets like (mixer, blender, fryer, toaster, steamer & etc etc) which had been lying around on the floor for sometime. At the sametime, i had also been wanting an open-shelves where i can place all my herbs, can and bottle foods etc so that they can be easily browse & accessible (an inspiration after watching too much of Asian Food Channel “CHEF AT HOME by Michael Smith“). I had many times encountered with food being stored away deep in the cabinet & forgotten, only to be discovered expire later.

So we had our carpenter over to do us a quotation thinking of customising a cabinet according to our space & he came back with one that’s gonna cost us RM2k !!!! Hell, i wouldn’t spend that amount of money for a cabinet that’s facing the backlane in my kitchen…what for?? That’s why we decided to browse Ikea coz i’m sure we can get things much cheaper there. And Ikea always surprises me with their level of creativity so i’m pretty sure we can find something that suits us. For signature & featured furnitures of the house, we’ll give Ikea a pass as I personally reckon that the quality of certain products can be SO-SO only & not classy enough (no offend to their fans coz it’s really a personal preference). But when it comes to little little storage stuffs, i’m happy to give them a go. Below are the latest additions to our bookshelf. So cool man… The EXPEDIT insert with 2 drawers in chilli red were out of stock….currently in our wishlist !!

True enough, we found not just one but more OPEN shelving cabinets that we LIKED. Finally decided to go for the below and they only cost us RM300 each. We got 2 units one with doors & one without parking them side by side. Things were definitely much organised now.

TADAA…..can see my stocks clearly now?? Even Scot knows how to come here & pick his selection for breakfast (without me asking)……lol. One thing, instant noodles must be hidden somewhere & not here

 This was by far the most adventurous school holiday that we have ever had.

It wasn’t exactly the location that we travelled to but the number of places that we covered within those short 2 weeks. And having a 4 months baby tagging along really awed us.

A week after our Penang trip, we had booked a night stay much earlier (considering it was a school holiday) at Genting Highlands PURELY for a day of FUN & THRILL at the theme park for Sean & Scot !!

But just 3 days before departing for Genting, my mom suddenly ‘ajak’/invite us to go Cameron Highlands. Just as we thought it was not possible to get an accomodation at such last minute, we were surprised that the agent that we used to engage still has an apartment to let. Meaning to say:

-Sunday we departed for CameronH for a night stay…

-Monday arrived home, unpacked…..and packed again…

-Tuesday departed for GentingH.

Come to think of it, our mind must have not functioning properly then :P. Thank god our little baobei was such a resilient baby, following us up & down numerous hills

Eventhough CameronH has not many attractions to certain people, our family like visiting it just for a quick change of air, temperature & serenity. We especially loves the ORGANIC charcoal steamboat. And mom would buy lots of veggies & fruits down too. Unfortunately being a school holiday season, that steamboat restaurant that we used to patron was full house, jam packed with tourists. We were left with no choice but to eat at another steamboat restaurant. It was really a huge turn down as eating steamboat was a major agenda of the entire trip. Just like our previous trip, we strolled the ‘pasar malam’ after the dinner & got more snacks to stuff our stomachs!!

Since our last visit was also on a festive season, the boys didn’t get a chance to self-pluck strawberries at the strawberries farm as it was closed. I reckon it was an activity that the kids should not missed doing at CameronH. So this time, we finally made it.

On our way to the bee farm, we stumbled upon a crowd of people by the road side & decided to pull over to check out what was interesting.

Not sure if it was the season, there were lots of SEA COCONUT for sale. I’ve eaten them before but never get to see the fruit in its original shape. So i had a good time with the fruits. We had the juice as well as eating the flesh fresh from the fruit.

It looks very appetizing & refreshing to me but actually tasteless lor…..haha

It was a Monday when we decided to drive up to BOH tea plantation to sip a cuppa hot tea while relaxing BUT then again we were dissapointed. Hey listen guys, they CLOSED on Monday.

Sadly to say, we were greeted with much dissapointments this time compared to our previous trip. We call off the trip late in the afternoon & headed towards Tanjung Tualang for seafood before routing back to KL.

Time & again, the food didn’t amazed us…..we definitely can find something much better back in KL so why waste time driving all the way there. I believe it should be our last meal there. My uncle in Ipoh has already warned us that nice seafood has all been eaten up at that place……supply has been scarce apparently. Being a local, he highly recommend seafood at Setiawan instead. We will have to check that out one day.

 By the time we finished our dinner it was already close to 6pm & it took us another 2 hours to reach home. So imagine upon reaching home, i need to KEEP my mind strong as there were loads of chores awaiting. Settled the kids esp baby first. Then off to unpack the luggages. By the time i got myself clean up, it was already late at night. I told the hubs, i’ll pack the luggage for Genting the next morning….really ‘bolat’ !!

 We took our sweet time the next morning to pack our stuffs (with a baby, u can’t get any simpler) as i didn’t wana stress too much. Told hubs no need to go so early….coz all we are interested in is A Day at the Theme Park. Nothing much to look forward. Hence, we left home close to noon & reached Gohtong Jaya for late lunch.

I’m not sure how many of you are as BLUR as me. I came to know that only Genting’s First World & Theme Park Hotel are open for booking by the public. The rest of the higher class hotel like Genting Hotel, Resort Hotel & Highland Hotel can only be booked by MEMBERS (at least silver member above) !!! Even if you are willing to pay, you don’t get to stay there….what crap is that??? I was very much upset. Yet i still booked Theme Park hotel (being the best available) since we have promised the boys on this trip much earlier. And it came no cheap too….if i’m not mistaken about RM245 a night. We have all heard too much about how terrible these hotel rooms are so i was so NOT-LOOKING-FORWARD to the stay actually. Especially so when i’ll be taking care of baobei myself & spending most of the time at the hotel room when the boys & hubs are in the theme park.

But I TELL U, the entire stay at the hotel turned out to be a SURPRISE to us !! BCoz the whole hotel has been refurbished & it looks like a WHOLE NEW hotel to me. Everyone of us went gaa-gaa-gaa in excitement the moment we stepped into the room.

New bed, new TV cabinet, new chair, new sofa, new carpet …. what else to expect. Yeah TV was kinda cartoon, but who’s interested to watch TV 1,2,3 & NTV 7 right?

Toilet was clean & spot-free ……..thumbs up !!

There were 1 king size bed, 1 single bed, 1 sofa & a babycot…just nice for the 5 of us

 My 2 very different twins….look at their styling taste. Scot can be a bit overboard at times….sometimes go pasar malam also wana wear long sleeve but i’m happy that i managed to groom him that way. But but i’m really speechless when it comes to Sean’s taste. He only goes for comfort & would need to be forced when it’s really time to dress up, sometimes even needs bribe & threat….haiyor kik sei ngor

Enjoying at the Theme Park. Weather was pretty good….cooling, windy but thankfully didn’t rain on the day we went theme park.

 Eventhough baobei was as usual an angel when we were out on travel, i must say it was kinda boring for me as i was carrying him on a carrier thus couldn’t joined the other 3 boys who were having heaps of FUN. Both baobei & I really missed the fun….i really can’t wait for baobei to grow up, silly me !!

Now that we are more confident bringing baobei along on our trip, we’ll definitely plan for more. Another long holiday is coming up soon, HARI RAYA Puasa in Sept. Plan is on the way ….. how about you??

I just read Annie’s recipe yesterday on how to cook kid’s version of ’sambal’ anchovies & that very night itself, i had to succumb to cooking that dish as my fridge & kitchen had literally went BARE & EMPTY !! No sight of meat, veggies or fruits in the fridge…next i was trying my luck to find if there’s bread…no luck too. Asked if they want noodle but both my customers insisted that they want rice. I have nothing for fried rice so the best alternative would be ‘nasi lemak’ so immediately i thought of their favourite condiment to nasi lemak i.e. íkan bilis’/anchovies. Since Annie’s recipe was still fresh in my mind, why not make a twist to my usual fried crispy anchovies? And other side dishes that i could manage considering my lack of stock is frozen nuggets (which can save life in times like this u know) & hard boiled egg …. that also i had only ONE egg left so half for each of them, poor boy!! Having said that, luckily there was still rice at home, lol

As usual i cooked the meal the night before & got the boys to taste the sambal anchovies first so as to ’fish’ their excitement to eat the next morning hopefully. This can be a risky action coz at times they refuse to stop after the 1st bite & i had to stop them for further testing last night :)

High time to do marketing this weekend !!

Next favourite is the Japanese Vermont curry which they requested VERY OFTEN but was also OUT OF STOCK for sometime. For those whose kids can take mild curry, you really have to let your kids try. It’s very tasty & appetizing when eating with white rice. It is by the way NOT a curry to me. And don’t be fooled by the picture of the packaging… yes i was a FOOL to think that there are meat, potatos & carrot included in the pack…boo hoo hoo. It was purely curry paste inside which can be cooked for several serve.

I would usually pan fry some chicken meat, potatoes & carrots (cut into cube shapes) until brown. Then added water to simmer them until tender. Once the texture is soft, curry paste can be added. As the paste melts, the gravy would be thicken…..easy cooking!

** KAYA & Butter bread Day **

The kaya goes very well with cheese slice that even a non-bread person like me also love it…but gotta give the kaya a thick-thick spread lar….

Don’t ever think i have the patience to cut all the above shapes bare handed ok…..no way, i’m not that hard-working. Gotta thank this tool, the bread cutter as pictured below which i think i must have got it from Daiso. I do have many other CUTE bread cutters but i have since chucked them aside as i begin to dislike the waste of left over.  But unlike this bread cutter, it utilises the whole piece of bread & cut-out only the side crust/skin……..bravo

When there is overnight rice left over, i like to do fried rice. One of the favourite style is GARLIC rice.

My hubs (who used to be the one who do marketing since bao bei’s arrival) stumbled upon the below canned pasta at Cold Storage, Great Eastern Mall. I believe they are not common kids’ food that you get to see in other supermarket. Only selective branches carry them. He must have heard me mentioning about these food so without hesitation, he grabbed them. I haven’t got the chance to see the content yet coz if the breakfast involves only re-heating food like this, the hubs would do it in the morning since he is sending the boys to school. So i can rest on such days
